On Monday, April 12, 2020, we announced the release of the first Podcast Report for the United States, powered by their Podcast Metrics measurement service.  The Podcast Report provides a ranking of the Top Podcasts as well as the Top Networks in the U.S., as measured by Podcast Metrics.

The Top Podcasts are ranked by both Average Weekly Downloads and Average Weekly Users for the February 17th through March 15th reporting period, in accordance with the latest IAB Podcast Technical Measurement Guidelines.  Leading podcasts by Average Weekly Downloads include My Favorite Murder with Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark, The Ben Shapiro Show, Up First, and Dateline NBC, with NPR News Now taking the #1 spot as the most downloaded podcast in the United States.

For the same reporting period, leading podcasts by Average Weekly Users include Up First, My Favorite Murder with Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark, The Ben Shapiro Show, Fresh Air, and NPR Politics, with NPR News Now taking the #1 spot as the most downloaded podcast in the United States from February 17th through March 15th, 2020.

The Top Networks are also ranked by Average Weekly Downloads and Average Weekly Users for the reporting period of February 17th through March 15th (Monday to Sunday).  This reporting period, NPR took the #1 spot with 39,224,000 Average Weekly Downloads and 12,873,000 Average Weekly Users, followed by RADIO.COM/Cadence 13 and Stitcher.  The Top 10 Networks represent 501M downloads in total.

“As one of the leading podcasters in the U.S., it’s been important to us that we approach the marketplace with true transparency as it pertains to measurement.  We are thrilled to participate in Triton’s Podcast Report, and look forward to the increased engagement and significant growth that it will undoubtedly facilitate in the podcast industry at large,” said Ken Lagana, Executive Vice President, Digital Sales, Entercom.

“We are pleased to expand our Podcast Reports to the United States, providing buyers with the trustworthy, third-party podcast measurement they need to make informed decisions around podcast advertising,” said John Rosso, President of Market Development at Triton Digital. “Additionally, our Podcast Reports are providing Networks with the reputable consumption data they need to grow their podcast strategies, gain a better understanding of their audiences, and increase their advertising revenue.”

Certified by the IAB Tech Lab, the reports eliminate inconsistent measurement practices and self-reported data, providing content creators, marketers, media buyers, and the audio industry at large with validated and transparent podcast audience data in the US.  In addition to the U.S., Triton currently publishes Podcast Reports in Australia and Latin America, and has announced that the Netherlands will follow.
